Every year in winter, on his birthday, Boz Burnham, who hosts a television show, goes for a morning sea bath with two friends. His two friends, detained at the last moment, he goes there alone and is murdered when he comes out of the water. Kevin Mulrooney, Deputy District Attorney, arrives at the scene just after Detectives Goren and Eames. He worked ten years earlier on the death of Boz’s first wife of which the latter had been accused. But, Boz had gotten away with it which had ruined Mulrooney’s career.
