New video shows the moment loud gunshots erupt in a Brooklyn apartment – as two stunned NYPD cops stand there and do nothing.
The 30-second police body camera clip, obtained by The Post on Thursday, shows officers Waqar Zafar and Sergio Garcia-Castillo at the door of an apartment on the second floor of NYCHA’s Bushwick Houses around 9 p.m. Sunday while responding to a call for help.
“Can we come in and talk to him?” one of the officers asks a worried man at the door – just before what looks like two shots.
“What is that?” one of the cops asks, as the man looks around the apartment and shakes his head. “Can we come in?” “
“I don’t want to say yes, I don’t want to say no,” replies the man, keeping the door ajar at the quarter. The video then cuts.
Sources said, however, that Zafar and Garcia-Castillo walked away from the apartment, turned off their body cameras before rushing in as cops in the 90th arrondissement responded to reports of gunfire fired at the housing complex. .
Investigators later found that a man inside the apartment fired four bullets, sources said. No one was injured during the accident.
The two cops, who are assigned to Police Department Zone 3, were placed on modified duty for failing to properly investigate and fail to take police action during the shooting.
