New York City “Traffic Alert” Days – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORKNew York officials unveiled the list of annual traffic alert days on Thursday. Dates that are not fun for city drivers due to road closures and other activities that cause delays.

There are 19 days of this type of traffic, known as a Traffic congestionin New York.

It all starts on Monday, when the UN General Assembly opens its week-long session and traffic in Midtown Manhattan moves at the slowest pace of the year. Motorists should expect extensive road closures and delays across the district throughout the coming week, city officials warn.

Alternative means of transportation are recommended, such as walking! either by public transport or by bicycle wherever you need to go. Traffic data shows that the average vehicle speed in Midtown’s central business district during the week of the UN General Assembly drops to less than 5 mph, which compares with a slightly more robust 6 to 7 mph speed in a normal day.

The city always identifies its traffic alert days around the UN General Assembly, so even though they are advertised as “for 2022,” the 19 days fall between Monday and the rest of the year.

Please mark calendars accordingly.
