(CNN Español) — With the aim of being able to disinfect the trains on a daily basis and as a way to bring a solution to the problem of homeless people in New York wagons, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the subway system will be suspended 1
at 5 am Miami time.
In this way, the trains and wagons will be disinfected daily during the early morning. The number of people taking these services has dropped by more than 90%, according to the New York City Transportation authority.
This initiative is a coordinated effort between the MTA, the state and the city in conjunction with the New York Police Department.
For those who used to and must take public transportation during this period, vans and alternative transportation will be available. The city authorities are also committed to offering Uber or Lyft services for those in need.
