After a tournament cancellation A1 Fell this August due to permit issues, New York City is all set to host its first professional padel tournament of the October 9-15 at Wollman Rink in Central Park. This emblematic sports space, located in the heart of the famous park, already houses tennis courts and an ice rink.
The announcement of the new date and new location was made by Fabrice Pastor, president of A1 Padel, and Randy Levine, president of the NY Yankees, during a special press conference. The Grand Master tournament will mark A1’s first event in the United States.
According to the organizers, this flagship event should bring together more than 4,000 padel fans. In addition, it will be broadcast live by an American national television channel, the name of which is still unknown.
The success of this tournament would be a strong affirmation of Pastor’s project to internationalize padel, especially after the remarkable cancellation of the previous event which had raised doubts about the agreement with a world-class organization such as the Yankees.
