New York City surpasses 20,000 COVID-19 deaths

Brooklyn, Wednesday, May 13, 2020 ((rezonodwes.com)) – New York City has passed the 20,000 death mark from COVID-19, according to the city’s tally, which includes confirmed and probable deaths from the disease.

A total of 20,056 people had died until Monday evening according to the latest report from the local health department, with 14,928 confirmed deaths from the coronavirus and 5,128 where this pathology was noted as a probable cause.

The figures are higher than those reported by authorities in New York State, taking into account only those deaths that tested positive for COVID-19. Their latest report therefore speaks of fewer than 15,000 deaths at Big Apple and 21,764 throughout the state.

However, it should be noted that the count from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University brings the death toll to nearly 27,000 in New York State, the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States.
