With 52 points this season, the reigning MLS Cup champion even surpassed the 2021 total by one point, with another duel still on the schedule.

NYCFC also overtook its New York rival, the Red Bulls, in third place.

Orlando (6th, 45 points) was in dire need of victory and it was the “Lions” who opened the scoring in the 47th minute of play.

Facundo Torres shook the ropes after a very long touch from a teammate.

New York, which had its home at Harrison’s Red Bull Arena on Sunday, responded twice before the end.

Defender Alexander Callens (66th) scored for the third straight game, then Talles Magno (81st) scored the winner.
