While in countries like Germany and Austria the government continues to restrict people’s range of physical activity with scare tactics, in many countries normality has long since returned.
This is also the case in the USA, where running events have been allowed to take place regularly in many states for several weeks. The world’s largest marathon was also able to announce positive news today: The New York City Marathon will take place again this year.
33,000 starting places
The 50th edition of the NYC Marathon will take place on November 7, 2021. With those responsible for the city and the state, the organizers “New York Road Runners” have decided that the marathon will definitely take place again this year. However, the field of participants will be reduced from a good 50,000 starting places to 33,000. Registrations are no longer possible. All already registered participants can take part in the marathon through the five districts in New York on November 7th.

2 rejections are enough
Last year the New York City Marathon had to be canceled. At that time, a virtual running event was offered as an alternative. It was the second cancellation of the New York Marathon in less than ten years after the event had to be canceled in 2012 due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
