New York City law on sharing customer data from food delivery companies unconstitutional, ruling rules

A federal judge on Tuesday declared a New York City law requiring food delivery companies to share customer data with restaurants unconstitutional, ruling that the requirement violated the companies’ First Amendment rights.

Manhattan District Judge Analisa Torres ruled in favor of DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats, which challenged the law.

New York City passed the law in 2021, but agreed not to enforce it pending the trial.
