NEW YORK – Manhattan authorities seized seven vans over the course of two days that they say were illegally searched and used as Airbnb rentals on city streets.
With the operation called “operation room service,” agents from the Sheriff’s Office, in association with the NYPD, seized seven vehicles on Thursday and Friday.
Sheriff Joseph Fucito told our sister network NBC New York that investigators found that the vans parked on the streets of Chelsea and the East Village were being used as rentals for Airbnb.
According to records shared by Fucito’s office, all seven trucks had New Jersey license plates. The license plates of three of the trucks had expired more than four years ago, while three others had plates belonging to other vehicles. The seventh truck was not registered.
