New York celebrated Donald Trump’s defeat

New Yorkers didn’t get much sleep on the night of Saturday November 7 through Sunday November 8. A concert of horns sounded much of the night. They cried, banged on pots and shouted: “Donald Trump, it’s over!“New Yorkers let their joy and relief explode. On Saturday evening, thousands of people spontaneously converged on gathering places like Times Square or Brooklyn in the Bronx.

The city’s mayor is a Democrat and the majority of residents voted for Joe Biden. But it is also the hometown of Donald Trump and it is there that he made his fortune and celebrated his victory in 2016. New Yorkers have celebrated his defeat and have hopes that the 46th President of the United States- United, Joe Biden, can bring the country together, but they know it will be difficult in four years.
