De Blasio had announced a day earlier that New York was studying the possibility of ending those agreements in light of what happened in Washington last week and the attitude of the outgoing president.

In an interview with the MSNBC channel, the mayor explained that the City Council considers that the violence in the Capitol is a criminal act and that this gives it the right to cancel the contracts, in accordance with the clauses included in them.

In recent days, several companies and entities have decided to break ties with Trump, including two of the banks used by the New York tycoon.

Additionally, the Professional Golf Association (PGA) announced that it will not contest its 2022 championship at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, because doing so would be “detrimental” to its brand.
