New York Auto Show Postponed Due to Coronavirus

The coronavirus crisis continues to advance and there is no trace that it begins to give way, after the cancellation of the Geneva Auto Show for this reason now its North American counterpart, the New York Auto Show has been postponed due to virus advance.

Mark Schienberg, President of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, the main organizer and promoter of the event that takes place every year at the Javits Center in the Big Apple, spoke about it: “We have taken these extraordinary measures to help protect our visitors, participants and exhibitors.”

Schienberg added: “For 120 years our motto has been ‘the show must go on’ and it is fully established in our DNA. Although the decision to postpone the dates is not easy, our top priority is to protect the health of everyone involved in this historic event.

Unlike the Swiss event that was canceled without an alternate date, the New York show was postponed until August 26 and 27, the days intended for the specialized press, and then opened its doors to the general public from August 28 to September 6th.

“We have already communicated our decision to the majority of exhibitors and partners. We are confident that the new dates for the 2020 show will make it a real success,” added Schienberg.

With the postponement of the New York Auto Show, the ceremony to award the World Car of the year 2020 it will also be postponed or, failing that, it will be done digitally. Now we just have to wait to know if the coronavirus crisis decreases, allowing this and other global events to take place on the new dates established.
