New York Auto Show postponed

After leading to the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show just 10 days ago, the coronavirus claims another victim. The New York International Auto Show, which was to be held from April 10 to 19, is canceled due to widespread concern over the coronavirus. It is postponed to the end of August.

“We are taking this extraordinary step to help protect our visitors, exhibitors and all attendees from the coronavirus Said Mark Schienberg, president of the Greater New York Area Automobile Dealers Association, which owns and organizes the New York Auto Show.

Participants are not left hungry, however, since the event will take place at the end of next August. The official days will be from August 28 to September 6, which places the Salon in New York a few weeks before the world’s largest auto show, which will be held in Frankfurt from September 24-30.

The postponement of the New York Auto Show comes sometime after the Geneva Auto Show was canceled for the same reasons. Indeed, Switzerland banned any gathering of more than 1,000 people a few days before the start of the Show, which de facto condemned the event.

Other automotive events also pass under the ax of COVID-19. This is particularly the case of Formula 1 Grand Prix of China, which was canceled altogether. For its part, the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barhein will be held behind closed doors, in order to eliminate any risk of propagation by human contact between spectators.

In the automotive industry, several press events held by automakers are also postponed or canceled. This is particularly the case for the launch of certain products GM. Chrysler, like other manufacturers, has also decided to limit the travel of its employees as a precautionary measure.
