New York Auto Show canceled again by Covid

The Covid got the better of the New York Auto Show again. The organizers have decided to cancel the next edition, which was to take place from August 20 to 29. A decision motivated by an increase in cases of contamination with the Delta variant. There are also new restrictions in the Big Apple, with the implementation of a health pass.

Mark Schienberg, responsible for the organization of the show, explained that “circumstances have changed in the last few weeks, especially the last few days, and it is more difficult to create an event that lives up to the expectations of our people. clients”. He added “we owe it to ourselves to provide a safe environment for all visitors, exhibitors and the thousands of men and women who organize the event”.

New York was to be the first major auto show held in the United States since the start of the pandemic. The event traditionally takes place in April. Already canceled in 2020, the organizers had postponed the 2021 show to the end of August, a way of looking further to take advantage of the end of the crisis. The cancellation will push the American and Japanese brands to review their plans to present their new products.

In Europe, the back-to-school event will be the Munich Motor Show, from September 6 to 12, which is not threatened for the moment.
