– – After a Corona failure last year, the New York Auto Show 2022 is back from April 15th to 24th. Over a million visitors are expected during the week-long exhibition. These are the highlights and these exhibitors are taking part. The 2022 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) will be held April 15-24 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. It is one of the largest and most important vehicle trade fairs in the world. Around one million visitors find their way to the exhibition every year. In 2021 the event had to be canceled due to Corona. With the comeback, the organizers are offering several highlights and have traditionally set themselves the goal of presenting the vehicle range in the USA in an all-encompassing manner. Of course, electromobility also plays a key role at the NYIAS. That’s why the event comes up with several indoor test tracks specially designed for e-cars. A test drive with a wide variety of electric cars can be undertaken on one of the “EV Test Tracks”. These include e-models from Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Nissan, Polestar, Porsche, VW and Volvo. The second electric test track will be presented by Ford and will offer space for the Mustang Mach-E. Hyundai is also showing its exhibits on its own route. Toyota also want to show their vehicles in motion. In addition, the fair offers an “Inner Roadway”, i.e. a centrally laid out route on which visitors can complete a “Thrill Ride” in a Toyota Camry. A professional sits at the wheel and sends the Camry over an ice rink, where he forces the vehicle to make a rapid 90-degree turn as the highlight. In addition to impressive superstructures and spectacular shows, manufacturers are also showing vehicles from the Micro Mobility category at the trade fair for the first time. These include e-bikes and electric scooters, for which the organizers also have a test track ready. The Saratoga Auto Museum has also dedicated itself to the topic of electromobility with the “High Voltage” exhibition. It allows a glimpse back to the early days of the New York Auto Show in 1900, when a third of the “Horseless Carriages” on display were electric cars. Visitors will encounter a 1909 Studebaker Electric Suburban and a one-off from 1977 called the GE100. In the “Hometown Heroes” category, the motor show is dedicated to fire service, police and military vehicles. In addition to many “bread and butter” cars from well-known brands, exotic cars also have their place at the New York Auto Show 2022, which want to make an impression in the form of super, hyper and luxury cars from Koenigsegg, Rimac or Bollinger.
