After a historically dry month in October and too little precipitation in November, America’s megalopolis water reserves are running low. New York and New Jersey were included “thirst study” for several weeks and the authorities are now considering making the procedure tougher. “The city may have to declare a ‘drought warning’ or, after that, an ’emergency'”the town celebrated on November 9.
The 8.5 million New Yorkers were called, early Novemberto increase water saving actions: take shorter showers, turn off the tap when shaving, flush the toilet less often and only run the washing machine if it is full. New York City’s average daily water demand has decreased by about 35 percent in recent decades, but New Yorkers still use an average of 3.7 billion gallons of water per day.
New York also has a series of rare fires. Driven by winds, 370 forest fires were recorded in nearby New Jersey between mid-September and late October. Fires broke out near New York, in wooded areas in Brooklyn and north of Manhattan. Between October 29 and November 12, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) replied 229 fires throughout the citya figure that was never equaled in the past.
