Dorothy Morgan, from the town of Hempstead, east of New York City, is victim number 1,646 who has been identified, while 1,647 is a man whose identity has not been revealed at the request of his relatives.
Since October 2019, the New York authorities have not announced new identifications, which on this occasion have been possible through DNA analysis of the remains that were recovered from the scene of the event that claimed the lives of 2,753 people on September 11, 2001. .
More than 1,100 victims or 40% of the deceased have not yet been formally identified.
“20 years ago we promised the families of the World Trade Center that we would do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to identify their loved ones and, with these two new identifications, we continue to fulfill that sacred obligation,” he said in a statement.
