As part of her investigation into possible tax fraud by the family empire ‘Trump Organization’, New York Attorney Letitia James wants former US President Donald Trump to testify. That reports the Washington Post.

Allen Weisberg, one of Trump’s confidants, pleaded guilty to tax fraud in July. The man is accused of hiding about $1.7 million in benefits in kind from the Trump Organization from the tax authorities between 2005 and 2021. He would have thus avoided paying nearly a million dollars in federal and local taxes.

James has therefore asked Trump to make a statement in her New York office on January 7. The Trump Organization is accused of helping to hide those benefits. The former president risked a political “indictment” in July.
