The corona crisis in New York is far from over. The state of New York with the metropolis of the same name records a third of all cases registered in the USA. At the moment, one can only speculate about when the famous curve of the newly infected could flatten out.
The streets and parks of the city, which otherwise never sleeps, are largely silent. Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers practice social distancing and work from home. But in the middle of the epidemic, many cannot afford that. In this densely populated city, they have to go to their workplaces by subway or bus. And in many of the city’s hospitals there is an emergency, a “catastrophe” as employees say. The health crisis has also become a social crisis that will only get worse.
