An art installation by the American artist Alex Da Corte can be seen on the roof terrace of the New York Metropolitan Museum.
It’s a huge mobile. A large blue bird rocks in front of the city skyline. The Austrian director of the Met, Max Hollein, said the bold work oscillates between joy and melancholy and brings a playful message of optimism and reflection. The installation “As Long as the Sun Lasts” should be on view until October 31st.
It is the ninth time that the museum has invited an artist to design a work for the roof terrace, from which visitors have a panoramic view of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.
