The American metropolis was hit particularly hard by the corona pandemic. One of the consequences of this was that many weddings could not take place during the shutdowns. That has now been made up for.

Around 500 couples symbolically made up for their wedding, which had been postponed due to the corona pandemic or went differently than planned, at New York’s Lincoln Center. At the multi-hour party “Celebrate Love: A (Re)Wedding” on Sunday evening in the open air at the event center in Manhattan, there was music, dance, champagne and a ceremony with representatives of different religions.

New York Mayor Eric Adams wrote on Twitter that this allowed couples to step down the aisle. “There was love in the air!”

The metropolis of New York was at times an epicenter of the pandemic. Over 35,000 people died in New York alone. Well over two million people were infected.

Are you or is someone you know struggling with the Corona period?
