New York Area Weather Update: Showers and Storms Today, Hottest Day of the Weekend Tomorrow, and Monitoring Development of Hurricane Franklin

In the New York area a frontal system is slowly moving to close out the week bringing showers in the morning and some isolated storms expected through tonight.

Conditions will improve on Friday as the rain moves over the open sea and the sun returns. Saturday will be the hottest and most humid day of the weekend, with temperatures dipping back into the 70s by Sunday as the clouds pick up slightly.

Next week we will be monitoring the development and track of Franklin which is expected to become a hurricane and try to move towards the East Coast.

Fortunately, its path will be blocked by a cold front that will save us from a direct hit but still allow some tropical moisture to reach our area by midweek.
