NEW YORK — New Yorkers and visitors alike know how chaotic driving can be in New York City, and a study confirms it by ranking it among the worst to drive in the world.
INRIX, Inc., a transportation data and analytics company headquartered in Kirkland, Washingtonhas carried out a global study on traffic on the roads of the main cities of the world and New York City is the 5th worst trafficked globally and 3rd in the US.
According to the report New York City residents lost 117 hours to traffic in 2022. This number refers to the total hours lost to congestion during peak hours, compared to the time spent off-peak to cover the same routes.
The average speed downtown dropped to 11 mphfrom 13mph average in 2021.
