After a two-year break from the CoV, there will be a New Year’s Trail in Vienna again this year. Planning for this is underway. Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected again in the city center at the end of the year.
“Yes, there will be a New Year’s trail again,” the office of the city councilor for economic affairs Peter Hanke (SPÖ) confirms to Radio Vienna. According to City of Vienna Marketing, which is organizing the open-air New Year’s Eve party on behalf of the city, planning is currently underway.
“We would like to pick up where we left off before the pandemic, provided there are no restrictions for the coronavirus,” said Paul Weis, marketing manager of the city of Vienna. Before the pandemic caused two cancellations in a row, around 800,000 people celebrated the 30th edition on the night of January 1, 2020 through the city along the New Year’s Eve route.
Town hall not included
The marketing of the city of Vienna is still reluctant to give details about this year’s edition. The leader referred to the beginning of December. Then it should be announced which bands and artists will perform and where. However, it is already clear that the Rathausplatz will not be part of the New Year’s Eve route this year. This has organizational reasons, according to the marketing of the city of Vienna.
