Today, on the last day of the year, the RMI first expects many clouds with rain from the west. During the day it will become temporarily drier from the coast with clear spells. In the afternoon and evening the weather becomes more changeable with more showers, which can be heavy locally, possibly with thunder.
The maximum temperatures are between 5 degrees at the Ardennes heights and 10 degrees in Flanders. The wind is blowing quite strong to locally sometimes strong, veering from south to southwest. The RMI generally expects gusts of between 60 and 70 km/h, but very locally gusts of between 70 and 80 km/h cannot be ruled out.
LOOK. Weatherman David Dehenauw about the wind during New Year’s Eve: “More wind in narrow streets”
On New Year’s Day it will be variable and in the Ardennes usually very cloudy with some showers. Most showers fall in the south of the country. In Flanders it is more about local showers.
Tuesday will be heavily cloudy to overcast and in the morning a disturbance will leave our country towards Germany. A new and active rain zone will follow from France during the course of the day. It will be very mild with maximum temperatures between 8 and 13 degrees. The wind is blowing moderately to quite strong from south-westerly directions.
Wednesday will be very changeable with usually a lot of clouds and periods of rain or showers. There may be a lot of precipitation again, especially in the Ardennes. The maximum temperatures are between 6 and 11 degrees with a moderate to fairly strong wind and at sea a fairly strong to powerful wind from west to southwest. The gusts can reach around 60 or locally 70 km/h.
Thursday will also be changeable with rain or showers and some clear spells in between. The maximum temperatures fluctuate from 6 to 10 degrees with a somewhat decreasing wind from west to southwest.
