BOn the beach in Zwentendorf, the old year is traditionally burned with the New Year’s Eve bonfire, which the children light with torches.
It is already a tradition that the old year is burned in Zwentendorf – organized by the SPÖ Zwentendorf. This year there was a special attraction beforehand: Before Christmas, Ronja and Nora Jedlicka had the idea of setting up a private sales stand in front of their house with culinary delights. The two donated the collected donations of more than 850 euros to the social fund of the market town of Zwentendorf on New Year’s Eve for good causes. When darkness fell, the many children present lit the fire with torches and the old year was burned.
Many guests came to the bathing area on the Danube and enjoyed mulled wine, punch, spreads and old Christmas cookies at the stands and bar tables. What is noteworthy is that drinks and food were not offered in disposable dishes, but rather, in an environmentally friendly manner, the dishes were borrowed from the Zwentendorfer Vitalen Gemeinde and returned cleaned.
Mayor Marion Török, who was also present at the New Year’s Eve fire, said in a brief review of the past year: “2023 was not an easy year, I hope that more projects can be tackled in the new year instead of being busy solving problems .”
