Already sold out at La Filature, the New Year’s concert of the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra (OSM) is fortunately being replayed in Colmar and Riedisheim. Music lovers from Haut-Rhin like those from northern Alsace are keen on this tradition from Germanic countries, that of “New Year’s concerts”, conveying a message of peace and joy in times of celebration.
The Mulhouse phalanx is part of the Viennese tradition and, in the company of Jodie Devos, coloratura soprano, reinvests the jewels of the lyrical repertoire and the Viennese symphonic pearls. Under the direction of Austrian conductor and violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, the musicians unfold delightful classical pages. The program remains a surprise!
From Vienna to New York, the musical journey towards 2024 frees itself from borders. The audience of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra (OPS) finds the incomparable British conductor and pianist Wayne Marshall.
On the stage of the Palais des Congrès et de la Musique in Strasbourg, on the baton and keyboard, Wayne Marshall replays the standards of the American musical comedy by Leonard Bernstein. With its influences from jazz and its classical reminiscences, George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto constitutes a true sonic bridge between Europe and the United States.
Mixed into this exuberant flowering are the compositions of Duke Ellington, giving a vigorous jazzy touch to Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
