New Xbox streaming device to compete with Apple TV

Microsoft’s Xbox is definitely one of the most popular game consoles in the world. With the Xbox Series S, introduced in 2020, customers have a more affordable option for playing console games. Microsoft now wants to bring the Xbox experience to more people as the company works on a new streaming device to compete with Apple TV.

first mentioned before windows center Later, Microsoft itself confirmed that the company is developing a new Xbox codenamed “Keystone.” However, instead of being a full game console, this one will focus entirely on streaming (including game streaming).

Details about this device are currently unclear, but a Microsoft spokesperson revealed that the company’s gaming division is committed to making the Xbox experience more accessible with a “new, low-cost device.” According to the spokesperson, the “Keystone” can be connected to any TV or monitor, so users can play games via streaming without a console.

There’s no word on when the new Xbox will be available on the market, but Windows Central says it’s been in development for a few years and should take another two months before it’s officially announced.

Console level gaming without an Xbox console

Thanks for the Xbox cloud gamingAnyone with a good internet connection can play Xbox games on any device, including iPhone and iPad. Instead of running games locally, Microsoft’s platform runs the game on its servers and streams it online to the user’s device, so it doesn’t require powerful hardware.

The best thing about Xbox Cloud Gaming is that it offers real console games, including popular franchises like Battlefield, Cities Skyline, DiRT, Fallout, Forza, Fortnite, Halo, Need for Speed, The Sims, and Flight Simulator.

The report also expects Microsoft to offer streaming media apps on its new devices, so it will also act as your usual set-top box for movies, TV shows, and songs.

New competitor for Apple TV

Xbox Series S, Microsoft’s least expensive gaming console, is $299 Although you can easily find it for lower prices.. So it’s easy to assume that a new Xbox streaming device will cost less.

Assuming Microsoft’s Keystone costs $199 or less, this would position the device as a direct competitor to Camel. And as I wrote once, the Apple TV isn’t exactly in a good place. Apple’s set-top box is too expensive for a streaming device, but at the same time it lacks console-level games to replace Xbox or PlayStation.

I still think Apple TV should have a less expensive version that focuses on streaming apps (and I’m not talking about a 7-year-old model that costs $159). Or at least Apple should embrace the Apple TV as a gaming device by inserting the M1 chip into it and persuading major developers to bring popular game franchises to tvOS.

Apple TV will have a competitor with the new Xbox streaming device from Microsoft.

Will this ever happen? I’m not sure. But I think Apple TV will lose ground to its competitors if Apple doesn’t rethink its strategy. What is your opinion? Let me know below in the comments.
