That’s half a year ago Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S was launched, and although we have become acquainted with many a game that is optimized specifically for Microsoft’s new hardware, we are still waiting for Xbox Game Studio’s first proper next-generation game.
In fact, there is only one game, «The Medium», which can only be played on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and which is not Xbox One tackles – but Microsoft is still not shy when it comes to the games of the future.
In a conversation with our sister site, Gamesradar+, says the head of gaming services at Xbox, Ben Decker, that the number of games and game series that have not yet been announced will give players backwards, and that the reason why Microsoft has invested heavily in new game studios is that research has shown that Xbox Game PassSubscribers play vastly different types of games, and like to throw themselves over new titles as soon as they are available on the service.
“That’s why we’re made the investments we ‘ve made,” Decker said. “We have 23 game studios inside the Xbox and Bethesda, which works with ‘Halo’, ‘Forza’, ‘Fallout’ and new IPs that we have not even mentioned yet, and which will give you backwards ». Decker added: «[Microsoft] will deliver all this on Game Pass from day one ».
Although Decker did not reveal more information about what the new games will be about, we already know that Microsoft’s huge portfolio of new and old developers has great potential for spin-off games, new game series and long-awaited sequels.
We wait and we wait
Unlike PlayStation 5 owners, who have been treated to PS5 exclusives including Returnal, Demon’s Souls, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Destruction AllStars and Astro’s Playroom, Xbox gamers are having to be extremely patient when it comes to bonafide next-gen games. Yes, Halo Infinite is on the way, but it still doesn’t have a firm release date, and games such as Gears 6, Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga, Fable and Perfect Dark seem a long way out.
Unlike PlayStation 5owners, who have been served PS5-exclusive games such as «Returnal», «Demon’s Souls», «Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales», «Destruction AllStars» and «Astro’s Playroom», Xbox gamers have had to settle for promises of games to come. Yes, «Halo: Infinite» comes eventually, but still has no set launch date, and play like «Gears 6», Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga, «Fable» and «Perfect Dark» does not seem to come up with the first.
At the same time, we think it is promising that Microsoft trumpets big words with brask and bram about what is to come, instead of hiding and remaining silent.
