WHO creates new team to find out the origin of COVID-19

The organization called on the governments of all countries to de-politicize the situation and cooperate in the study of the origin of the coronavirus.

WHO is creating a group of experts that will work to find out the origin of the coronavirus. About it informs press office of the organization on Thursday, 12 August.

The International Scientific Advisory Group on the Origin of New Pathogens (SAGO) will be responsible for advising WHO on the development of a global framework for the systematic study of the emergence of future new pathogens with pandemic potential. With regard to the coronavirus, it will support rapid research.

“By announcing an open competition for nominations for SAGO, WHO is creating a transparent basis for a new scientific advisory group, in which we expect all Member States to participate,” it said.

WHO also called on governments of all countries to de-politicize the situation and cooperate to accelerate research into the origins of the coronavirus and work to develop a common framework for future new pathogens with pandemic potential.

“This open call aims to ensure that a wide range of scientific skills and expertise are identified to advise WHO on the research needed to determine the origin of any future emerging or re-emerging pathogen with pandemic potential,” the WHO stressed.

Finally, WHO looks forward to continuing previous missions to China to investigate the origin of SARS-CoV-2.

We will remind that earlier the WHO called the “shameful” vaccine inequality in the world… Globally, about 20 people could play a key role in addressing inequality in the field of COVID vaccination, the WHO said.

Also, WHO predicted jump in the incidence of COVID-19… Already at the beginning of 2022, the number of cases of coronavirus could grow by a third, experts warned.
