The WhatsApp beta channel recently went live with version 2.24.24.5. This version brings a new “Draft” label to the chat list when messages have not been sent. It is also supposed to improve performance and fix existing bugs. However, as users run the beta report, a new bug has been introduced that turns the screen green when opening a chat.
Luckily, this isn’t the same green screen issue that forces you to replace or repair the screen. Instead, it just shows a solid green color when opening a chat and disappears when you exit WhatsApp. This is not the only problem present in the latest beta, however.
Users are also reporting that the beta app crashes on startup, rendering WhatsApp unusable. Of course, these issues are nothing unexpected, as beta versions of apps are never meant to be as stable as their public release.
If you are one of the testers experiencing these issues, the only solution is to revert to the stable version, which seems to be free of the green screen bug and crash on startup. In this case, you should be aware that WhatsApp beta versions are distributed as app packs and not standard APKs, and that due to restrictions imposed by data protection law, beta versions do not are not available Androidyou cannot easily revert to an older version.
So it is better to uninstall the beta version and install the current stable version of WhatsApp (2.24.22.79). You can get the installer from APKMirrorwhich is known to be a reliable source for Android apps. Additionally, as many users are reporting these issues, it is possible that the developers will release a fix soon.
