Group chats on Whatsapp can sometimes get confusing. A new feature aims to change that.
Berlin (DPA) – Three new features are intended to improve group conversations on Whatsapp. The Meta Group announces the features of muting participants, direct messages to other participants and notifications of joining. This should enable a more comfortable and orderly use of voice calls. After all, with up to 32 possible participants that the messenger allows, it can quickly get bustling to chaotic.
New function at Whatsapp: Group voice calls should get new features
Targeted muting of others can be useful, for example, if disruptive background noise can be heard from one or more participants during the group voice call. And the new messaging feature allows you to message others in the group quickly and directly without missing any of the conversation.

And what about the banner notifications? If a new participant joins the group voice call, but cannot be seen on their own screen due to the group size and limited display area, you will receive a banner notification saying “XY has joined the call”. So you can be sure to always know whether someone has joined – and who it is (more about digital at RUHR24).
