The popular chat app WhatsApp often tries to come up with new and better features for its users. Now it comes with a new feature that aims to protect users’ privacy.
WhatsApp is used by millions of people around the world. They could soon see a new feature that can better protect some conversations on their phone.
The company Meta, under which the WhatsApp application falls, is working on a secret code function for locked chats, the British newspaper The Sun reported. It should be made available in one of the future updates of the popular app.
The goal of the new feature is to significantly improve the privacy of conversations. If an unauthorized person were to get hold of the phone, they would not have a chance to access the locked conversations without a special password.
The company started rolling out locked conversations in May. They are now in a separate section and can only be accessed via phone code or biometric verification. This should change in the future.
The application is planning to make it possible to set a special password to open this special section. Even someone who knows the code to the phone would not have a chance to get into the locked conversations. It is not yet clear when exactly this update will be rolled out. The company Meta refused to disclose the details.
In August, WhatsApp launched another novelty in the Czech Republic. Communication using video messages. See how it works:
