WhatsApp will introduce a function worldwide later this month that will make messages disappear after seven days, the company announced on Thursday website.
A button will appear in the contact menu of a chat with which the function can be turned on. This also applies to administrators of group apps, who can determine for the group whether messages will disappear.
For the time being it concerns a period of seven days after which the messages will be deleted. According to WhatsApp, it is a first step. “We start with seven days. This provides more peace of mind because conversations are not permanent, while also remaining practical because you don’t forget what you were chatting about.”
Photos and videos will also disappear after seven days if the user turns on the function.
