New Water Restrictions in Loire-Atlantique Due to High Temperatures and Low River Flows

A new water restriction order has just been taken by the prefect of Loire-Atlantique following the high temperatures of recent days.

The heat and the lack of rain in recent days have prompted the prefect of Loire-Atlantique to take new measures regarding water uses. River flows in southern Loire-Atlantique continue to decline “until reaching the crisis threshold on surface water for the Breton Coastal residents (excluding the resupplied sector) and the heightened alert threshold on surface water for the Ligne, Ognon, Boulogne basin” specifies the prefect of Loire-Atlantique by way of press release. New restrictions are therefore in force on the use of water in these watersheds and are aimed at “to clarify certain prescriptions with regard to the experience of the last low water seasons” emphasizes the prefect.

The Loire-Atlantique department is also vigilant about drinking water and groundwater “Given the decrease in the flow of rivers in the department, the prefect of Loire-Atlantique invites everyone to avoid any waste and to control their water consumption” alert the prefecture.
