New wall painting in Bielefeld’s Rohrteichstraße

Bielefeld. The producer’s gallery for fine arts in Rohrteichstraße has a new mural. The artists Elisabeth Lasche and Suzanne Austin worked on the mural for five days. Shortly before completion, two men stop in front of the gallery to praise the work. Austin explains: “They drive by here every day and see what has happened since the day before.”

In general, there is a lot of feedback from passers-by. So the artists also know that the previous motif is a little missed by some, they say. But the picture had faded and the wall had to be renovated. “We wanted something new,” says Lasche.

The faces of the guests can no longer be recognized

A photo that shows the guests at the opening of the current exhibition “Summertime and the living is easy …” by Elisabeth Lasche served as a template for the new image. Afterwards, the photo was digitally altered slightly, so that the guests at the vernissage can no longer be recognized by their faces, but “perhaps by their posture,” jokes Lasche.

The initial bright yellow foundation is said to have evoked various reactions from passers-by. For Suzanne Austin, however, the yellow color in the finished work creates a “radiance that gives life to the picture.” On August 21st and 22nd, the producers’ gallery will again be part of the “Open studios” campaign.
