Volkswagen has told about the new generation Transporter model, also revealing its price.
The new Volkswagen Transporter, or simply T7, will be launched on the market early next year. The model developed in cooperation with Ford will have increased in size, adding 14.6 cm in length (now 5.05 m) and 10 cm in wheelbase. The width between the wheel arches has increased by almost 15 cm, while the volume of the cargo compartment has increased to 5.78 cubic meters. The T7 will also be an extended model, with a 40 cm longer wheelbase, which combined with the high roof will be able to accommodate up to 9 cubic meters of cargo. The maximum carrying capacity of the vehicle will be 1.33 (previously 1.045) tons, and the weight of the towed trailer will be 2.8 tons (previously 2.2 tons).
In the cabin, there is a 12-inch instrument display, a 13-inch touch screen for the information and entertainment system, as well as a cabin arrangement with two separate seats in front. A two-seater passenger bench, making it a three-seater vehicle, is available as an option, and it can be equipped with up to three easily removable individual seats in the second row of seats and – later in the passenger version – also a three-seater bench in the third row of seats.
As the only commercial vehicle in its class, the new Transporter will also be available as a truck with a six-seater double cab and cargo platform.
In Germany, the T7, with significantly expanded standard equipment compared to the T6.1 and 110 hp turbodiesel, is available as a panel van starting at €36,780 and as a double-cab truck for at least €39,130.
Pre-sales of the T7 are said to have already started.
