At the moment there is no way around Måneskin. The Italian band has dominated the streaming charts for weeks. One of the most popular songs by the current winners of the Eurovision Song Contest is the English version “I Wanna Be Your Slave” (from the album “Teatro D’Ira: Vol. 1”) sung especially for the international market.
The song is something like an emo version of a BDSM confession song with plush, vulgar lines like:
I wanna touch your body
So fucking electric
I know you scared of me
You said that I’m too eccentric
I’m crying all my tears
And that’s fucking pathetic
I wanna make you hungry
Then I wanna feed ya
I wanna paint your face
Like you’re my Mona Lisa
Now a video for “I Wanna Be Your Slave” has also been released, which of course again shows why Italians are currently hitting the bull’s eye with so many people. Måneskin play with rock star symbols, gender fluid codes and images that could also come from a 90s MTV clip, albeit without being too intrusive. SM bonds and pictures from the floor to the crotch are included.
Måneskin: Triumphant advance through Europe
Most recently Måneskin even made it to number one on the singles charts with “Beggin ‘”, a cover of a song by The Four Seasons. Record also on Spotify: With 7.4 million streams, no other song dominated as much in one day as this one.
By the way, the band was recently seen in Germany. After a streaming concert in Berlin, Måneskin played on “Schlag den Star” last Saturday.
