SURABAYA – Head of the East Java Health Service, Dr. Herlin Ferliana, said that East Java received quite a lot of vaccines, namely 3,549,560 vials. According to him, East Java is the only province on the island of Java that receives the astrazeneca vaccine.
“East Java must complete vaccinations for 2,291,468 people by the end of the year. If you multiply by 2, it means that there are 45 million vaccinations that must be done. For the first stage for Human Resources (SDM) Health 189,907 has been passed. Only stage 2 is public service and elderly, “said Herlin.
Herlin added that the vaccination target for public servants and the elderly that must be completed by the end of July is 4,000,812. It’s just that according to him, currently the number of vaccines received is only 3,500,000. “The Ministry of Health hopes that 60 percent of the elderly have been vaccinated by May. But we are still having difficulties because East Java for vaccinating the elderly is only 13 percent,” he said.
Furthermore, Herlin said that the highest elderly vaccination was in Surabaya at 72 percent, while in other districts it was only 0.0 percent. According to him, the imbalance is very visible. “This is because a lot of vaccine rations are given to Surabaya,” he explained.
Herlin hopes that even though some areas have 100 percent vaccination for health human resources, there are still many areas that are below 100 percent. Meanwhile, for public services it has reached 63 percent. “The highest is Surabaya because many of them are carried out en masse,” he said.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito revealed that there were various reports of side effects experienced by the community after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine injection. Responding to this, Wiku asked the public not to worry, because the government guarantees that all types of Covid-19 vaccines used in the national vaccination program are safe, efficacious and have minimal side effects.
“If after vaccination side effects are found, the government will ask the public to report the findings to the nearest health facility so they can get treatment immediately,” he said.
The Covid-19 Task Force reminded officers in health facilities to always be ready to accept health complaints experienced by the community after vaccination. Furthermore, Wiku explained that the limited number of vaccines made the government have to regulate the Covid-19 vaccination rate.
Wiku hopes that the public will patiently wait because there will be an additional 20 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine produced by PT Bio Farma. So, it is hoped that the vaccination program in April and May 2021 will continue. “Furthermore, PT Bio Farma will also continue to increase the production of the Covid-19 vaccine to meet the needs of the vaccination program,” he concluded.
