Since this Friday, December 1, the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs has expanded the vaccination against flu to two new groups: smokers and, against flu and Covid19, all those people who live with people over 60 years of age, people with chronic pathologies or pregnant women, as reflected in the Strategic Vaccination Plan of the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation.
Currently, the Ministry points out in a press release, in Andalusia 1,415,799 people have been vaccinated against the flu and a total of 928,498 against Covid19. As for those over 60 years of age, 1,006,574 have already been vaccinated against flu (48.4% coverage), and 789,614 against Covid (35.4% coverage). Among the oldest, over 85 years of age, coverage is 67.6% and 53.8% respectively.
Regarding childhood flu vaccination (for all children from 6 to 59 months), a total of 88,321 minors have received the vaccine, that is, 31.9%. On the other hand, of the people under 60 years of age who are vaccinated because they suffer from chronic pathologies or risk situations (pregnancy, health professionals), 445.66 people have received the flu vaccine and 139,520 have received the Covid vaccine.
Since the campaign was launched on October 9, vaccination has been carried out in stages for people in nursing homes and disability centres; over 85 years old; health and social health professionals.
As of October 16, vaccination of people between 70 and 79 years old began; from six to 59 months; boys and girls six months or older, adolescents and adults with chronic pathologies; large dependents at home and professional caregivers; pregnant and postpartum women, and as of October 30, vaccination was opened to people between 60 and 69 years old; and to other professional groups (security forces and bodies, firefighters, staff and inmates of penitentiary institutions, etc.).
Once this first phase of the campaign has advanced, and on the verge of the arrival of the peak of respiratory viruses such as flu, the Andalusian Vaccination Plan reminds us that it is important to also vaccinate people who live with the most vulnerable people. , that is, those who live with people aged 60 or over, or with people with chronic pathologies, or with pregnant women.
Likewise, Salud y Consumo calls on the population so that all people who are among the aforementioned risk groups protect themselves against the flu and Covid-19 through vaccines. It is an efficient and safe tool that prevents serious illness and hospitalization as a result of these viruses.
In addition, double vaccination is emphasized in the same act for the recommended groups, with the aim of being immunized against the imminent arrival of the peak of flu and Covid infections. More information at Andavac.es:
