New USCIS fees begin for some important forms – 2024-03-01 00:19:05

On Monday, February 26, new prices established by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) came into effect for the priority processing of some important immigration procedures through Form I-907.

This change is implemented after three years of no increase in costs. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), this increase is applied to reflect the inflation that accumulated from June 2021 to June 2023, taking into account the Consumer Price Index.

In that sense, it is important to note that USCIS will reject any Form I-907 that is postmarked on or after February 26, 2024 if the fee indicated on it is incorrect or corresponds to the previous amount.

This change in the price of USCIS priority processing will directly affect those people or companies that depend on these services to accelerate pending immigration procedures, and are related to being able to work in the United States.

Procedures that register a price increase by requiring priority processing:

Form I-129, also known as Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker

This procedure will cost 1,685 dollars (USD) for the H-2B and R-1 categories.

The cost of the other available classifications (E-1, E-2, E-3, H-1B, H-3, L-1A, L-1B, LZ, O-1, O-2, P-1, P-1S, P-2, P-2S, P-3, P-3S, Q-1, TN-1 and TN-2) will cost 2,805 USD.

Form I-140 or Immigrant Petition for Foreign Worker

The new cost for this process will be $2,805 for employment-based (EB) classifications E11, E12, E21 (non-NIW), E31, E32, EW3, E13 and E21 (NIW).

Form I-539, known as Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status

This procedure will have a cost of 1,965 USD for the classifications of F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, J-2, E-1, E-2, E-3, L- 2, H-4, O-3, P-4 and R-2.
