“The daily gym class was discussed extensively, but creative subjects are being cut further. Creative education is a central element of all model educational institutions, ”explains photographer and media artist Jutta Strohmaier from Lower Austria, who has been professor for visual education at the Linz Art University for two weeks. She wants to convey an open pedagogical approach to her students: “Educators should make children and young people aware that they can shape how we live.” Nowadays, it is increasingly important to convey media design. Therefore, the term art education is now out of date, Strohmaier would prefer art and design instead: “This would include our diverse fields of action.”
