From the old-school V12 engine to the modern carbon fiber technology, the TWR Performance Supercat is a visual and performance feast. The design is inspired by the endurance racing cars of the 1980s.

In the automotive world, every technological advance and design innovation is a respect for the past and an exploration of the future. British engineering company TWR Performance recently launched a “Supercat” that completely redefines the Jaguar XJS. It is a tribute to the classic coupe and a bold challenge to the limits of performance and design. The Supercat is equipped with a supercharged V12 engine that can produce up to 600 horsepower, which is almost twice the power of its predecessor, the 1988 XJR-S. In addition, Supercat abandoned its original three-speed automatic transmission and switched to a six-speed manual transmission, which increases the interaction between the driver and the vehicle and makes the experience more realistic and attractive driving.

The XJS’s sleek, sleek exterior has been significantly redesigned to recall the endurance racers of the 1980s, thanks to the work of digital designer Khyzyl Saleem and renowned Porsche tuner Magnus Walker.

Supercat uses a lot of carbon fiber as body material. In terms of looks, the Supercat’s design is heavily inspired by the endurance racing cars of the 1980s. The front of the car is equipped with a large split and multiple air intakes to provide more cooling air for the engine and braking system, and also improve the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance. The rear design includes a diffuser and spoiler from the wing bridge to the ducktail. As for the car’s interior, TWR Performance has not fully revealed the interior design of the Supercat, but judging from the information released so far, it includes racing-shaped seats redesigned bucket and carefully arranged instrument openings on both sides, it shows that drivers will enjoy the visual experience of a double Festival for the senses. These design elements not only add a combination of classic and modern beauty to the car, but they also improve overall driving comfort and operational convenience.

The new brake lights sit atop a large diffuser that spans the width of the car. The flybridge stretches from roof to roof of the nose, merging into a large duck spoiler with small wings on either side similar to the rear body of the Le Mans winning Jaguar XJR-9.

The TWR Performance Supercat was developed over two years by a team of ex-McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche engineers, including other F1 team members from Williams, Mercedes and Renault. Only 88 examples were built, a number marking TWR’s first Le Mans victory in 1988. Prices for the TWR Performance Supercat start at £225,000 (approximately NT$9.15 million). Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of the year.
