Jakarta –
Toyota Kijang Innova has received a total update. Not only looks, this seventh generation Kijang Innova also adopts a new engine.
The Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix now uses the TNGA: GA-C platform. The latest generation of Kijang Innova uses a monocoque structure to replace the ladder-on-frame structure.
With the application of TNGA: GA-C, the weight of the Innova Zenix Hybrid EV is reduced, the rigidity of the body increases, the sound in the cabin is quieter, and the comfort and stability while driving increases.
The Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix is equipped with the M20A-FKS inline four-cylinder Dual VVT-i 1,987 cc engine for the petrol engine type. The engine is connected to a CVT transmission coded K120. This transmission combines a steel belt and gear transmission which can widen the transmission ratio range. A 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic mode is adopted to enable gearshifts like a manual transmission. There is also an uphill/downhill shift control for passing mountain routes.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV combines a 2,000 cc M20A-FXS TNGA engine (152 PS at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 187.3 Nm at 4,400-5,200 rpm) with an electric motor with 113 PS power and 205.9 Nm of torque. As a result, the combined power reaches 186 PS. The Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV is equipped with a Ni-MH hybrid battery which is packaged in a compact package and stored under the two front seats without reducing space in the cabin area. Just like the V type, the Zenix Q Hybrid also uses a CVT transmission.
If the battery is sufficient, the Innova Zenix Hybrid can even drive solely by relying on electric power. This means that the car does not consume gasoline when EV mode is active.
Then what about the fuel consumption? We tried this during a road trip exploring Sumatra from Jakarta to Sabang. We tested fuel consumption at several points on the Sumatra route.
For example, on the petrol Innova Zenix, we tried to calculate it using the full to full method from Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, to Merangin, Jambi. Traveling as far as 223.4 kilometers spent as much as 18.469 liters of gasoline. The average fuel consumption reaches 12.09 km / liter. While the MID displays the figure of 11.5 km / liter.
For the Innova Hybrid, we use the average fuel consumption figures from MID. At that time we tested it on the way from Rigaih Beach in Calang, Aceh Jaya, to Banda Aceh. The journey is taken as far as 137.1 km with up and down contours. As a result, the average fuel consumption listed in the MID reaches 18.2 km/liter.
For the record, our driving style can be considered quite aggressive. So, the results of this fuel consumption are in accordance with the usual driving style, sometimes at high speeds and through up and down roads. Oh yes, regarding the weight, the car is filled with four people with full luggage for a trip of more than two weeks. The results of this fuel consumption can vary depending on road conditions, driving style, to the weight carried by the car.
