Universal Pictures International France/MGM

“Ben Hur” and “Fast & Furious 7” are now available at no additional cost as a subscription to Amazon Prime Video. For some the perfect opportunity to finally catch up on one of the greatest cinematic milestones of all, for others the chance to be moved to tears by an over-the-top action spectacle.

“Ben Hur”: Unsurpassed to this day

“Gone with the Wind”, “Doctor Zhivago”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Ten Commandments”: Everyone knows them, these big, old Hollywood hams, with running times of more than three hours, often shot in 70mm and practically on the watch list of every film fan who has never seen them. With “Ben Hur” you can now fill one of these educational gaps very easily (and above all without additional costs) thanks to Prime Video.

William Wyler’s classic sandal film is not only one of the greatest and best films in American film history (we gave it the full five stars in the review), the film even holds an Oscar record to this day. Even more than 60 (!!!) years later, no film managed to win more awards: With “The Lord of the Rings – The Return of the King” and “Titanic” only two films emerged as winners in exactly the same number of categories – namely eleven in number.

“Fast & Furious 7”: Farewell to Paul Walker

With “Fast & Furious 7” there is now also the most emotional part of the Gaga action series about Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his for everyone with a Prime subscription family without additional costs in the stream. With 4 out of 5 stars in the FILMSTARTS review, it is not only one of the best contributions to the testosterone saga, which defies all the laws of physics, but for fans it is of course also the film with which they said goodbye to main actor Paul Walker. The actor died in a tragic car accident in November 2013 before filming could wrap up.

In the end, the makers around James Wan took all the time they needed not only to process the loss, but above all to give the likeable Californian a dignified farewell. The result is an obviously tricked, but first and foremost, immensely respectful goodbye that should move even the toughest car mechanic and action fan to tears – at the very latest when the credits roll.

That’s how elaborately animated Paul Walker was in “Fast & Furious 7”.
