Since August 15, TGV Max active and Max active + subscriptions are finally available from Dole and Mouchard stations. “This is good news”, is satisfied Evremonde de Saint-Alary, president of the user association “Mouchard TGV-TER” who has been campaigning for this measure for a few months.
We were alerted by members concerned by these journeys that these rates applied from Dijon or Besançon stations, but that this was not the case for Dole or Mouchard.

For teleworkers
These “annual home-work subscriptions” are defined by the SNCF as “an offer adapted to teleworking professionals“. And to summarize in a slogan: “Do you travel 2 to 3 times a week? Max Active is made for you! »
Concretely, you “benefit from a counter of 250 reservations at 0€, valid from Monday to Thursday” against a rate announced by the marketing director of SNCF Voyageurs to the user association in a letter signed by the SNCF Voyageurs marketing department. . “The prices set would be 547 euros per month in first class and 356 euros in second class for the active Max fare valid from Monday to Thursday for 250 reservations included in the annual subscription under the conditions of the fare. At the same time, SNCF Voyageurs will also experiment with the provision of the Max active + fare, allowing travel from Monday to Sunday with 450 reservations included in the subscription at the monthly price of 913 euros in first class and 594 euros in second class. »
SNCF Voyageurs therefore reserves the right to interrupt the experiment if these criteria are not met.

In the same letter, SNCF Voyageurs specifies: “The subscription will be open to purchase on the Paris-Dole relationship. Travelers departing from Mouchard will be able to subscribe to a Max active or Max active + fare and easily book their reservations between Mouchard and Paris. »

One year experience
Still, SNCF Voyageurs also specifies that the marketing of these subscriptions is done “in the form of experimentation for a period of one year. And to slip: “A first assessment will be carried out at 3 months, in December 2023.”
However, at this stage, the criteria for a successful experiment remain rather vague.
First, “it is very complicated to give the number of users who may be affected. We know that there are travelers who regularly go to Paris, but we don’t know exactly how many,” admits Edmonde de Saint-Alary.

Then, because the line is operated by the Swiss from Lyria, their opinion must be taken into account, which imposes some constraints.
Priority to international travelers
In the letter addressed to the association, the marketing department of SNCF Voyageurs clarifies the conditions of the experiment: “This period will make it possible to verify that the economic balance of this development is well confirmed. It is a question of ensuring in particular that this implementation does not burden the deployment of international journeys whose economic contribution is essential to the financing of the circulation of Lyria trains. »
Clearly, the Swiss do not want the number of teleworkers from the Jura to increase on the line to the point of stealing places from international travellers. “SNCF Voyageurs therefore reserves the right to interrupt the experiment if these criteria are not met”, notes the marketing department on the French side.
Conditions to be specified
In concrete terms, these experimental conditions raise a few questions: should we understand that the stock of subscriptions to be marketed is limited? If yes, how much? And what will happen to holders of an active Max subscription if SNCF Voyageurs interrupts the experience during the year? “These are details that we expect from SNCF Voyageurs. We would also like the criteria for the success of the experiment to be specified,” explains Evremonde de Saint-Alary.
From the above and the discretion with which this offer was launched, we can perhaps deduce that the objective is not to increase the number of users. The criterion of success: that all teleworkers currently concerned take a Max active (or Max active +) subscription, but not one more!
