New television starts in the Czech Republic! It will broadcast 24 hours a day!

The new television channel focused on staging theater performances or concerts will be available 24 hours a day from Friday. Everything will be broadcast live, but delayed viewing will also be possible. The founders state that thanks to digital terrestrial broadcasting, the program of the Television Live channel will reach three million households free of charge and will connect living culture with viewers. Television Naživo was put together by the ensembles Cirk La Putyka, Jatka78 and the company Heaven’s Gate by director Viktor Tauš and today they presented the project at a press conference.

Performances include performances by Cirk La Putyka, Jatek78, Amerikánky, Vosto5, Na Zábradlí Theater, Minor Theater and many others, as well as concerts by Lenka Dusilová, the Czech Philharmonic and Bára Poláková. The broadcast will offer current live theater, music and children’s work, its initiators offer interested parties, and thus potential supporters, the opportunity to produce and broadcast original advertising. It will be played, for example, by leading domestic puppet actors or in live broadcasts before, after or during a break in the program by live actors. The broadcast will begin live with the Pot and Lesk cabaret on November 20 at 20:00.

In response to the government’s spring measures limiting the possibilities of living culture, the ensembles began to figure out how to get culture for the audience. Very soon, the ensemble La Putyka started streaming its older and new performances, Viktor Tauš later came up with film or internet transmissions of theater performances shot in unusual places instead of a theater stage.

“Most of your TV stations will tune in to the channel themselves, or you can find instructions on our Facebook page. It will broadcast 24 hours a day,” Tauš said today. “The principle of our television is that everything you see there is live, including children’s shows. They are from a recording, but they are filmed at once, in one live shot,” Tauš added.

Television broadcasting is free, after broadcasting the program will fall on the Filmnaživo.cz platform, where it will be available in the form of deferred viewing for a fee. People will also be able to always contribute to the selected file via sms or dms. Half of the contribution goes to individual ensembles and 50 percent to the creation of new programs. Among those who helped the project the most financially, the founders mentioned the Ministry of Culture.

“The Internet is flooded with content. Quantity has overshadowed the quality and our viewers do not have time to search, try and not even end up in their own taste. Live TV will offer our selection of what we consider to be quality art and especially what we value in the artistic environment.” stated another of the TV’s initiators Štěpán Kubišta.
