In Greek mythology there is the god of war, carnage and massacre – Ares. That’s exactly what the new team that was founded at Snap (the company behind Snapchat) was called – ARES – AR Enterprise Services. Interesting decision. The new team will take care of offering Snapchat’s familiar virtual shopping technologies – from augmented reality to fit & sizing – to other companies outside of Snapchat, according to the press email.
This is then a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model that is sold in a shopping suite and should be easy for companies to implement on their own platforms. The suite includes the following 5 items to draw on:
- AR Try-On: Customers can try on new clothes, shoes and accessories in real-time using the shopping suite’s immersive features. These include Image Try-On, where customers can upload a photo of themselves to instantly see how a product looks on themselves, and Live Try-On, where they can try on products directly via augmented reality.
- 3D-Viewer: An interactive visualization tool that allows customers to see every angle and detail of a product.
- Fit & Sizing Recommendation Tech: An AI-powered technology that gives customers fit and sizing recommendations tailored to their individual body shape and size.
- Enterprise Manager Backend: An AR management and creation infrastructure and backend system that simplifies the use of Snap’s SDKs, the creation of AR experiences, and the management of 3D asset catalogs – while providing real-time performance analytics on how technology drives customer retention and conversions.
- Integration Services: The Snap team helps companies seamlessly implement these solutions on their own websites and apps.
