Today, probably everyone knows that firefighters do not only fight against fire, but also intervene in traffic accidents, save kittens from trees and perform a number of other useful activities. From time to time, however, these men and women in fireproof armor need to be replaced, and so does their technology. And just one fresh mechanical piece was put to use by professional firefighters from Mělník.

The basis of the model is the Tatra T815-7 Force on an off-road chassis.
The default model is the well-known Tatra T815-7 Force, in the bowels of which works an air-cooled 12.7-liter EURO 5 eight-cylinder engine with an output of 442 horsepower. The transmission of torque to all six wheels is handled by an Allison automatic transmission with a hydrodynamic converter, while the axle lock and inter-axle locks come in handy as part of cross-country ability.
Because the special called CAS 30 is built on an off-road chassis, it also has the option of increasing the ground clearance by 90 mm compared to the standard, as well as reducing the initial clearance by 120 mm. The wading depth of the model reaches 1.2 meters, and as part of the additional protection of the chassis, special covers were installed on the fuel, compressed air and electrical wiring. Thanks to this, the Tatra wood can withstand temperatures of up to 200 °C as standard, and even up to 1000 °C for 15 minutes!

At the back is the control center of the superstructure.
The core of the superstructure is a water tank with a volume of 9,000 liters and a tank for the foaming agent, which can hold 540 liters of this substance. The pump can transfer up to 3000 liters per minute at a pressure of 1 MPa, or 250 liters of foam per minute at a pressure of 4 MPa.

The four-seater air-conditioned car also has two fire-fighting carriages – one on top of the superstructure and the other in the front on the bumper. The entire superstructure is controlled by software called the Firetruck control system and also includes a tablet that allows the operator to control the superstructure and obtain important data.
The new Tatra truck is in the garage firefighters she didn’t warm up much and shortly after being accepted into the service she was already going out for the first interventions. And so it should be, at least according to the published plans of the HZS of the Central Bohemian Region, for many more years.
